Giannis Gkolfinopoulos is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. His BA is from the Department of Philology, University of Ioannina and his PhD from the Department of Sociology, Panteion University. He has been a member of research groups in the areas of migration and state restructuring. His research interests include migrant illegality, state power and public discourse. He is the author of “Never a Greek…”: Albanians and the Greek press on the night of September the 4th, 2004 (“Ellinas pote…”: Ellines kai Alvanoi ti nihta tis 4is Septemvriou 2004, Ioannina, Isnafi Press, 2007). His second book, State power and discourse: The social production of migrant illegality in Greece (Kratiki eksousia kai logos: I koinoniki paragogi tis metanasteftikis paranomias stin Ellada) is currently in press from Papazisi Publications.
